With an area of just over 6,340 kilometers in size, and a population of over 23 million people, Shanghai is one of the richest cities in the world. Its GDP of over $516 billion dollars places it as a city wealthier than many entire countries in the world.
Shanghai is known as a mecca for electronics and new gadgets, tourism, and steel and chemical production, all of which add to its wealth. Not bad for a city that started as a small fishing village.
